Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds —Trochilidae—, also known as colibri, hermits or quindes, are a family of apodiform birds endemic to America. They are characterized by the color of their plumage, their tiny size, their way of flying and by the peculiar feeding habits they have. Among its members are some of the smallest birds in the world.
Tanagers
They are native to the Neotropics, where they range from Mexico through Central America, the Caribbean, and South America to the southern tip of the continent. It is one of the two largest groups of passerines found in the Neotropics. They possess some of the most spectacular and unique combinations of colors and patterns found in all birds.
Toucans
Toucans (Ramphastidae) are a very large family of birds, as it houses six genera and forty-two different species. They are characterized by having a very developed and brightly colored beak. They are widely distributed throughout the American continent, from Mexico to Argentina. They are found in low-altitude tropical rainforests, others live in more temperate forests, in mountain ranges, at altitudes up to 3000 m above sea level.
Manakins
Piprids (Pipridae) are a family of passerine birds, which groups around fifty-five species in seventeen genera, native to tropical America (Neotropics), where they live mainly in low-lying tropical and subtropical rainforests. They are small arboreal birds, measuring between 7.5 cm. In some species, males between two and four years old display showy sub-adult plumage of bright colors. The plumage of the females is less striking, generally greenish.
Owls
Nocturnal raptors are an order of birds composed of the families Tytonidae (owls) and the family Strigidae, which includes owls, little owls, scops owls, tawny owls, among others. They are found throughout the world, except in Antarctica, most of Greenland and some remote islands. They are great hunters, generally nocturnal and solitary. They feed mainly on small mammals, insects and other birds, although some species specialize in fishing.
Cotingas
The Cotingidae are a family of passerine birds of the suborder Tyranni that includes around sixty-seven species in twenty-four genera, native to tropical America (Neotropics), living mainly in tropical and subtropical forests; in temperate regions, several species inhabit mountain forests. Included in this family are some of the most spectacular, colorful and even strange of all Neotropical birds.
